Cameron raised in the Catlins and Michelle in a small Southland town, we have farmed our 685 hectare coastal property for the last 30 years.   Predominantly sheep farmers, however more recently we decided to diversify and open up the stunning coastline creating a holiday destination to share.  We established the Retreat in 2019, the larger of the two properties accommodating up to 4 guests, and then the latest addition, perfect for a couples escape, the Hideaway which was completed in 2024.

Both dwellings were built by local builders, including our son who lead the project.  We were really keen to utilise local materials particularly the timber where possible, some of which was milled here on the farm, reducing our carbon footprint in the building process.  We use solar for our power supply, bottled gas and a local water source, both cottages officially run 'off grid'.
